Why the effects of trauma are at the centre here
Almost everyone experiences something in the course of their life that hurts them. That hurt can be treated, not just named – so that a life without this loss becomes possible again. That is exactly why this practice concentrates on the effects of trauma.
At the same time, it is demanding work. A trauma can often be sensed and, to some extent, grasped. Learning to live with it in emotional balance and to take a new path calls for sensitivity and a broad repertoire of methods. That is what our work is geared towards.
What trauma can trigger
A single, drastic event or experiences that went on over a long period: both can leave traces that are still at work long afterwards and that often cannot be recognised straight away as a consequence.
Not every difficulty fits into a clear category. We take your symptoms seriously, even if they cannot be classified yet.
Trauma-related disorders, from PTSD to dissociation
The effects of trauma often lie behind other conditions or occur alongside them. That is why asking about distressing experiences is part of every diagnostic assessment with us.
- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and complex PTSD
- Dissociative disorders
- Attachment trauma
- Transgenerational trauma
- Stress and adjustment disorders
Diagnosis before trauma therapy
Before we start trauma therapy, we look at the whole picture: previous illnesses, medication, family risks, physical findings, then the symptoms and the story behind them. Only then does it become clear which method is right.
Methods: EMDR, PITT, cognitive behavioural therapy, CBASP
To treat the effects of trauma, we use internationally recognised methods. The diagnosis determines which one is used; often several are combined.
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, certified training
PITT
Psychodynamic Imaginative Trauma Therapy
Cognitive behavioural therapy
Training recognised in Germany, Switzerland and Luxembourg
CBASP
Cognitive Behavioral Analysis System of Psychotherapy
